YOUR AGRICULTURE CAREER STARTS HERE

Do you dream of a career that's not just a job? Imagine catching the day's sunrise as you ride up behind a mob of cattle on a motorbike; perhaps you're a practical fix-it type who dreams of wide open spaces, fresh air and the chance to put your problem solving skills to work, or maybe an office view that includes animals over colleagues and car parks.

Graduates of the Diploma of Agriculture through RIST have gone on to work as property managers, owners, farm and station overseers and supervisory roles in dairy, broadacre cropping, and in the sheep and beef industries.

TAKING THE NEXT STEP

Students who complete a Diploma of Agriculture through RIST can take their learning and their careers to the next step by using the skills and knowledge learnt to enhance their managerial career or maybe look at undertaking undergraduate studies. At the Diploma level, students will have access to state of the art online resource systems incorporating iPad classroom technology and will undertake a more business and management focused course covering a range of topics such as:
  • Manage staff
  • Prepare budgets for an agricultural enterprise
  • Financial performance and management for an agricultural enterprise
  • Develop livestock production plans

  • Understand soil management
  • Advanced animal health
  • Develop an OH&S plan for an agricultural enterprise
