RIST students & staff feature at Warrnambool Show

A number of former & current students, and staff, competed in the Romney Shears Shearing & Wool Handling Competition at the Warrnambool Show on Saturday 31st October, with many placing across a number of levels.

Congratulations to all involved, with special mention to:
- Glen Stephens, 1st place in both Coopworth Invitational & Fine Wool Shear, & 6th place in Open Shearing
- Brett Caldwell (1st), Lee Harris (3rd) & Mark Trothe (4th) in Senior Shear
- Sophie Huf, 3rd in Open Wool Handling
- Sharelle Dyson (3rd) & Rachael Krame (4th) in Novice Wool Handling

A special mention to Brett Caldwell & Mark Trothe, who so generously donated their prize money to Light The Night supporting the Leukaemia Foundation.

There was also some great trans-tasman competitions on the day.  The Warrnambool Wool Handling team of Sophie Huf, Clare Price & Luke Rowbottom scraped through on top of the New Zealanders 43.46 - 46.26, and the Aussie Shearing team of Glen Stephens, Roger Mifsud & Brian Walden too strong for the Kiwi's 195-75 - 207.28.

Sophie Huf, RIST's Wool Handling Coordinator, deserves a very special mention as she has won a trip to compete in the Golden Shears in Masterton, New Zealand, in March 2016.
