Northern Territory Trip 2016

On Monday 27th June five students from RIST travelled to Darwin to begin the annual Northern Territory experience. This year the students will spend two weeks on two cattle stations before joining the students of the Charles Darwin University, Katherine Campus to assist in the showing of cattle at the Katherine Show.

This is one of the many extracurricular events that students undertaking their training and education at RIST can participate in. Other activities include shearing and wool handling competitions in Australia and New Zealand, showing cattle at the Melbourne Show, participating in sheep showing at Sheepvention, the team challenge for dairy students at Sungold field days and this year's dairy challenge at the Melbourne Show. The three students pictured are presently on Le Belle Downs, an Australian Agricultural Company property, 180 kms south west of Darwin running 18,000 head of cattle.
