On Sunday 16 March, the Hamilton Cycling Club held a special fundraising event to raise funds for the Jeremy Upton Scholarship Program at the Rural Industries Skills Training (RIST).
The event, which brought the local community together, aimed to honour the legacy of Jeremy Upton, former Chair of RIST, and his dedication to supporting young people pursuing careers in agriculture.
The Jeremy Upton Scholarship Program was established to provide financial support and training opportunities for Agriculture students, helping them pursue their study aspirations in the agricultural industry.
Through this scholarship, RIST seeks to recognise and continue Jeremy Upton’s passion for empowering the next generation of agricultural professionals.
Bill Hamill, CEO of RIST expressed his appreciation for the event, saying, “It’s incredibly heartwarming to see the Hamilton Cycling Club and their supporters come together to support such a meaningful cause. Jeremy was a passionate advocate for young people in agriculture, and his legacy continues to inspire us. The funds raised will help RIST provide essential training and opportunities for the next generation of agricultural leaders, and I couldn’t be prouder of our community’s involvement.”
Albeit a wet and rainy day, The event saw enthusiastic participation from local cyclists and supporters, all of whom rallied around the cause in a bid to make a tangible impact in the lives of young aspiring agriculturalists.
