Course Topics
Supervisor Fundamentals
Feel confident in clearly communicating roles, responsibilities and tasks to be undertaken by your team to ensure Workplace Health Safety (WHS) procedures are followed. Be able to identify and effectively address WHS issues before or as they happen and monitor the impact of the strategies you implement to support your workforce. Have the confidence to clearly communicate and maintain good working relationships with your team.
Farm Finance
Understand how to keep accurate administrative records to ensure a business meets its financial, legal and insurance requirements. This includes budgeting, monitoring cash flow, financial reconciliation and reporting, invoicing and records management.
Animal Health
Understand how identifying and selecting genetic characteristics impacts livestock. Oversee the implementation of preventative health strategies, be able to identify symptoms, administer vaccines and medications and maintain appropriate records.
Pasture Plus
Learn how to assess pasture feed and develop and implement a pasture management program for livestock production and feeding budget. Establish an ongoing monitoring program to identify and treat weeds, pests and disease.
Agronomy for Farmers
Gain the skills to analyse and implement strategies for increased soil health and crop maintenance. Be able to assess the condition for a broadacre crop. Use these skills and knowledge to monitor and document soil health and develop a plant nutrition program.
Sustainability in Agriculture
Understand how to implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices through planned improvements to property infrastructure – buildings, yards, fences, water supply systems, roads, tracks, storage – to positively impact on-farm production and profitability.
Core Units of Competency
This Certificate IV in Agriculture has 12 Units of Competency totalling 1200 scheduled training hours. Assessment is focused on your ability to apply relevant knowledge and skills to perform workplace tasks to a specified standard.

This training is supported by Victorian Government Skills First funding. Course fees may vary depending on individual circumstances and eligibility criteria to access government support. Students may also be eligible for a Scholarship.
Limited to small groups of up to 16 participants.
Regular access to an agricultural workplace.
Completion of a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) pre-training review.
