“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, Involve me and I learn.”

Today marks the beginning of National Skills Week. Running from August 19th to 25th, Its more than just a week on the calendar, It serves as a week to remind us of the great importance that exists from providing skills-based training and education to grow our people, strengthen our communities and offer a great kick start to the wonderful array of career pathways that await (In Agriculture and Wool!)

At RIST, we have been providing education and skills-based training specialising in Agriculture, Wool, Short Courses and National Programs for rural industries for over three decades. We’re incredibly proud of this legacy and are committed to continuing our tradition of excellence into the future.

Every year, we support countless students, whether they’re studying part time, undertaking traineeships, or honing their skills through accredited and non-accredited courses. We’re here for learners of all ages and stages, from high school students to adult life learners.

We recognise that for some students, it is in our outdoor classrooms or with hands on application of skills training that this is the moment and time in which they SHINE and it is very special to be part of the learning process with them.

Although our classrooms are world class, we know our students still prefer their much relished outdoor classrooms; the paddock, shed or workshop. As for so many of our students, that is where they feel at home and where the magic really happens”. – Bill Hamill, CEO Rural Industries Skill Training

According to DAFF, in 2024, the Australian Agriculture and Wool Industry is valued at over $80 billion, highlighting its significant importance to both Australian and international markets. It’s an incredibly exciting field to be part of and we are thrilled to be supporting and developing  the current and next generation of farmers, seasoned professionals, and future leaders in agriculture and wool industries.
